WIESBADEN, Germany - V Corps leaders have recognized two outstanding Soldiers for having gone above and beyond the call of duty to make the organization’s move from Heidelberg to Wiesbaden Army Airfield a success.

Chief Warrant Officer 3 Laura Gentry from Killeen, Texas, and Spc. Tavia Shelton from Conyers, Ga., received the U.S. Army Europe G1 Fredrick E. Vollrath Human Resources Award for Excellence. G1 is the Army’s general staff for personnel.

During a Jan. 25 ceremony in the Victory Conference Room at Campbell Barracks in Heidelberg, Gentry and Shelton remained humble despite the accolades from leaders.

Although hesitant to claim credit themselves, their superiors were full of praise for their outstanding efforts.

“(Gentry’s) service has been nothing short of outstanding,” said her company commander Capt. Joseph Gainey.

Headquarters Service Company 1st Sgt. Daniel White predicted, “Shelton could very well become a sergeant major if she stays in.”

Both Gainey and White remarked how wonderful it is to know that they have two very bright team members that they can always rely upon.

“I couldn’t have done so without my team of in-step Soldiers. The greatest privilege has been working with so many good people along the way,” said Gentry.

The Soldiers celebrated with friends over refreshments following the ceremony.
