
Robert Kandler entered the Army in 1966 and was commissioned an Armor officer in 1967. He qualified as a rotary wing aviator in 1968. During his military career in addition to serving in the Republic of Vietnam, he held various assignments in 3d Armor Division, 3d Infantry Division, V Corps and USAREUR Headquarters. He retired from active duty in 1993.
On departure from active duty, he served one year as the civilian executive officer for the 104th Area Support Group before departing government service to practice law in England. He rejoined government service in March 2001 and has served as the 104th ASG Deputy to the Commander, IMCOM Europe Chief of Staff, and since 2007, the Deputy to the Commander, USAG Wiesbaden.
