Training is provided by the Mobilization and Deployment (MOB/DEP) Readiness program, Army Community Service. Mob/Dep, in coordination with military leadership and an extensive network of community organizations, provides assistance, support and advocacy to help Soldiers and Family Members to cope with deployment related concerns, daily life issues and the adjustments and challenges of a military lifestyle.

Family readiness impacts unit readiness. In addition to a supportive chain of command, an effective Family Readiness Group (FRG)is vital, especially during deployments. FRG Volunteers and Unit Leadership are provided with the tools that are needed to maintain a successful and effective FRG through training and an endless supply of resource materials.

Training and Support:

Rear Detachment and Family Readiness Liaison (FRL) Training

Successful rear detachment operations are critical to the mission accopolishment and peace of mind of Soldiers in deployed units.  This course focuses of family readiness and identifying resources, support services and networks available to assist Rear Detachment Commanders and FRLs during deployment.

 

FRG Leader Training – Preparing to Lead and Manage a Family Readiness Group

This training includes the key factors and operational guidance essential to leading and managing  an effective and successful FRG. Required for FRG Leaders and recommended for Rear Detachment personnel and anyone holding an FRG position.

FRG Leader Advanced Training and Leadership Development

Advanced training for leaders is available through Army Family Team Building.

FRG Key caller and point of contact training

This training includes instruction on using phone trees, maintaining rosters, using community resources, effective communication techniques, and procedures to use when contacting Soldier and Family  Members. Required for FRG key callers and recommended for anyone holding an FRG position.

FRG Treasurer Training

This training includes detailed information regarding FRG funds management, including the authorized and restricted uses of FRG funds, fundraising, acceptance of unsolicited gifts and donations and the duties of a FRG treasurer. Required for FRG treasurers and recommended for FRG leaders and unit leadership.

CARE Team Training

This training provides information and guidance on the role of the FRG during a crisis or emergency. The course includes setting up a FRG Care Team and coordinating community resources to provide assistance during a unit crisis or emergency.

Other Mobilization / Deployment programs:

Family Readiness Forum

A support network for all FRG leaders, volunteers and FRSAs to meet, exchange ideas, and hear updates on FRG related matters. Held the 2nd Weds. Of each month, 10 am – noon.

Yellow Ribbon Room – The Yellow Ribbon Room is a place for Soldiers and Family Members to access the internet to maintain communications by e-mail, video e-mail, and instant messaging. The room is located at 57 Texas Strasse, Apt 4 in the Hainerberg Housing area, and can be utilized by calling ACS.

Deployment support for children – Age appropriate training and workshop are provided to help children and youth prepare and cope with deployment related issues. Additional training is available to help address the challenges parents and children face during every phase of the deployment cycle. Contact ACS for more information.

Building a Battle Book Brief – What sort of documents, paperwork, etc is essential to supporting your family? What should you consider when compiling a system of storage for them? This course allows for practical application of knowledge, combined with discussion. Share ideas and lessons learned with others, as well as building YOUR book with the paperwork provided.
