Family Child Care

FCC Wiesbaden is committed to providing accessible, high-quality childcare for children ages 4 weeks to 12 years. Our program provides full day, hourly, extended, and before and after school services. Parent fees to providers follow the IMCOM-E fee schedule. Providers are subsidized through the FCC program on a monthly basis. The capacity of an FCC home is determined by the size of the home and the ages of the children enrolled. Multi-aged homes can enroll six children. Homes exclusively serving infants/toddlers, 4 weeks to 2 years, can serve a maximum of three children. Homes providing care to school-aged children, 5 to 12 years, can serve up to 8 children. In all these ratios, the provider's own children under the age of 8 are included.

Being an FCC provider is a serious commitment to the children and families in the program. Our providers are military spouses who enjoy being home with their children while providing a much-needed service to the community. Spouses interested in becoming a Family Child Care provider must be 18 years of age, have a High School diploma, speak English, and love working with children. Applications may be picked up at the Family Child Care Office. Before an applicant is accepted into the Family Child Care Program and becomes a provisionally certified provider, the whole family is interviewed in the home and they, as well as any family members over 12 years of age, must have their background clearances completed. The applicant then completes a week-long training program in Infant and Adult CPR, First Aid, Preventing, Identifying and Reporting Child Abuse, Administering Medication, Communicable Diseases, Business Practices, Fire, and Safety. After becoming provisionally certified and opening the program, the home is visited on a regular basis by the FCC Director, Fire, Safety, Health Inspectors, and the CYS Services Trainer. Training for an FCC provider is ongoing. In order to become fully certified, the provider must complete six months of satisfactory service, have completed the entry level requirements, and complete at least 10 of the 22 skill level training units. The provider is then encouraged to complete the remaining training units, earn the nationally recognized Child Development Accreditation, and have the home accredited through the National Association of Family Child Care.
