The Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act permits all United States military personnel, civilian employees and members of their families who are eligible to register to vote while residing overseas to cast an absentee ballot for candidates running for elective office in state and federal elections.
The goal of the Army in Europe 2012 Voting Campaign is to ensure that all military personnel, DoD civilians and their family members are provided information on registering to vote and given the opportunity to exercise their right to vote. The UOCAVA also covers United States citizens living abroad and who are not covered by the Status of Forces Agreement, i.e. retirees for example.
