School Liaison Services — In and Out Processing
In Processing Procedures
- The School Liaison Officer conducts in-processing briefs at In-Processing Training Center (ITC). The SLO briefing provides information to parents to make them aware of education support programs and services in the community.
- The SLO provides informational brochures to a variety of community agencies supporting school and CYS Services information for all in-processing civilians.
- The SLO advises on local DoDDS school registration and informs military members of place of duty policy for school "Open House and Parent Teacher Conferences."
- Sponsors electing to utilize DoDDS schools register directly with the school. Partial online registration is available. Sponsors are required to complete the registration process at the school.
- The SLO provides information for distribution at community Senior Leaders meetings, information briefings, town hall meetings. PAO, FRG and ACS, command staff and other community agencies as needed.
Out Processing Procedures
- All Soldiers out-processing with children need to out-process through the Parent Central Services Office.
- Sponsors withdrawing students from local DoDDS schools need to provide the school ten days advance notice and out-process directly with the local school.
- The SLO conducts monthly out-processing briefings in cooperation with the ITC. SLO provides information and resource packets for out-processing Soldiers.
- The SLO provides school transition information to local schools for direct out-processing families. Information is available about gaining schools and how to contact a SLO at the next assignment for transitional information and assistance.
- The SLO provides sponsors and students general and specific school transition assistance. Answers to questions are available, such as the minimum school age requirements at a new assignment, state graduation requirements and many others.
